Crows
String Orchestra
Duration circa 2:40
Grade 2.5
Though crows are clever and cunning, their awkward squawking gives them a somewhat comical air. Their black feathers have led humans to consider them portentous harbingers of doom, yet they are also graceful, acrobatic flyers. This piece captures these diverse aspects of the character of the crow; dissonant marcato seconds recall their squawking, the pizzicato cello and bass theme depicts their stealthy, devious side and soaring violin melodies with big intervallic leaps invoke their flight. A fun and different Halloween selection!
